PRESS QUOTES
'Where The Wild Oceans End'

“Where The Wild Oceans End is all of this: the work of a great singer and songwriter... sensual, elegant, elegiac.”
-
Musikexpress (5/5)

“Sparkle, depth, beauty: the fascinating Berliner counteracts the enchanted desolation of her lyrics with warm vocals … an aura, a pale glow around a voice in the dark night that can float surely and beautifully above the wildest waters.”
-
Rolling Stone (4/5)

“Andrea Schroeder illuminates the gloom with torches... a nocturnal journey to the edge of the capital.”
-
Spiegel Online

“Where The Wild Oceans End, once again, defies simple classification – this is making it so interesting that more and more critics and fans are taking notice.”
-
Zeit online

“A big slice of bitter-sweet Velvet Underground pie”
-
Melodie & Rhythmus (8/10)

“There is a hint of 60's Parisian “chanson-noir” here as well as cool Velvet Underground aesthetics and the glamour of David Bowie. Schroeder's heavy contralto draws the listener deep into an atmosphere of dark yearning. The guitars are empowered with this electrifying force and the arrangements with the allure of its silence: excellent! -
AUDIO (4.5/5)

“Andrea Schroeder lures us into the shallows and abysses of the soul.” - radio eins RBB
(CD of the week)

The aura of a Marlene Dietrich of pop-noir... An album whose sinister elegance will echo for some time to come.”
-
Kulturnews (4/6)

“A poet of the beautiful as well as the ominous... dark sparkling details in her magnificent songs. Inspiring.” - Sonic Seducer

“Andrea Schroeder is approaching a breakthrough. Her second album of atmospheric folk-rock and dark chansons justify great expectations.” -
Stern.de

“Enormous quality... fascinating songs somewhere between decelerated folk-rock and bluesy ballads.” -
Focus.de

“... Schroeder's expansive sound touches urban, asphalt concepts perfectly. Interestingly, one can also recognise a few ghosts of Berlin; from the elegantly jaded Lou Reed to the feverish blues of Nick Cave in the mid-80s and to David Bowie.” -
Berliner Zeitung

“It's not often that the blood freezes in the veins so beautifully... a sensual celebration.”
Tip Berlin

“ A common name but not common music.” -
DIE WELT

Andrea Schroeder – Void

The album "Void" on CD and Vinyl (+CD) and digital
released 26th August 2016 on Glitterhouse Records

Once in a while, Germany offers uniquely talented female singers, and Andrea is one of those. Draw yourself a line from Marlene Dietrich over to Nico, add some dashes Chamber Pop in the vein of The Tindersticks to it and you come close. Discovered and loved by such illustrious people like Charles Plymell or Mike Watt, Andrea Schroeder is an exceptional phenomenon. She's a musical poetess, with an outstanding voice that is as fascinating as her thrilling and melancholic lyrics. By the beginning of 2014 the Berlin based artist released her second album with Glitterhouse Records. Just like the debut “Blackbird” (2013), „Where The Wild Oceans End“ (produced by Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts, Midnight Choir)) conviced music press and arts section: Rolling Stone named it "a powerful album full of drama and melancholy", Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote "Melancholic, of Nick Cave and Patti Smith reminding songs".

After playing sold out venues including a special concert with the Filmorchester Babelsberg and celebrated festival shows Andrea Schroeder will release her third album entitled „Void“ on August 27 followed by an extensive tour in the Winter of 2016. “Void” was recorded in Berlin and Stockholm in the spring of 2016. Ulf Ivarsson – well known for his work with artist such as Thåström and Sivert Höyem – produced the album in cooperation with Andrea Schroeder, Jesper Lehmkuhl and Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, P.J. Harvey, Einstürzende Neubauten, Mick Harvey) who was in charge of the mix. Beside Andrea Schroeder's band – consisting of Danish guitarist and songwriting partner Jesper Lehmkuhl, Dave Allen, Catherine Graindorge, Mike Strauss and Maurizio Vitale – you can hear such amazing guest musicians as Kristof Hahn (Swans) and Pelle Ossler (Ossler, Thåström, Sällskapet).
